Patrick Beverley is one of the most outspoken players in the NBA, and whenever he offers his opinion, people are ready to disagree with him. The defensive specialist has starred in many controversies due to his words, and he’s not stopping anytime soon.

Bev has raised a lot of eyebrows with his takes and recently supported one of his former teammates as the best big man in the NBA. Many would think he was talking about Anthony Davis, but the truth is that he mentioned Karl-Anthony Towns as the best big in the NBA.

“I have my personal intake of who I think the best 5 man is. The conversation was Pat you played against KAT, you played against Embiid, you played against Joker. Who you think the best big man is?”

Beverley explained that when it comes to offensive talent, Towns is above everybody else, even putting him at the same level as prime James Harden, who used to cook the league with the Houston Rockets.

“And, I go you all not gonna like my answer… Imma like cool, KAT. They were like WHAT! When it comes to like offensively gifted players… it’s KAT and it’s James Harden and I think I got KAT one… I’ve been around this motherf*cker.”

This is a curious choice not only for Beverley but for others who think the same. Karl-Anthony Towns was expected to do big things in the NBA, but so far, he’s struggled to make an impact on the Minnesota Timberwolves.

He’s surely a top-10 center in the league right now, but when it comes to the best, that spot belongs to Nikola Jokic. Joel Embiid looked like a worthy opponent for the Joker, but the 2023 NBA playoffs proved that Jokic is one or two levels ahead of Embiid.

As for KAT, who self-proclaimed the best big man shooter ever, he’s not been past the first round of the playoffs. In three playoff appearances, he has a 4-12 record, losing in 2018, 2022, and 2022 in the first round. He’s averaged 18.6 points, 11.4 rebounds and 2.1 assists in those 16 games.

As skilled as he is, he’s not better than Embiid or Jokic, so it’s easy to see why Bev anticipated a lot of people disagreeing with his take.

Patrick Beverley Is Not On Chicago Bulls Plans For The 2023-24 NBA Season

As for the point guard, the future is unclear since the Chicago Bulls have no plans of keeping him on the roster. He won’t have the chance to confirm that the Bulls would be a top-4 team if he played an entire season with him and will test the waters of free agency.

He averaged 5.8 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.5 assists in 22 games with the Bulls, who couldn’t get past the Miami Heat in the play-in tournament. Now Beverley is looking for a new team after playing for the Lakers and Bulls last season.
