Superstar Jimmy Butler has managed to lead the Miami Heat on a Cinderella run to the NBA Finals, beating contenders such as the Milwaukee Bucks and the Boston Celtics on the way there. However, they were no match for the Heat on the highest stage, losing in five games.

There is no doubt that Jimmy Butler’s play has been affected by an ankle injury that he sustained in the series during the New York Knicks. However, the star has refused to use that as an excuse, simply stating that the team “just didn’t win”.

“Zero. My ankle’s fine. We just didn’t win, there’s no excuse. They beat us.”

Jimmy Butler asked about how much he’s been affected by his ankle:

Even though the Miami Heat were unable to win the championship this year, they should be proud of what they managed to accomplish. They managed to get to the Finals through pure grit and determination and despite injuries to key players such as Tyler Herro.

Jimmy Butler averaged 26.0 PPG, 4.5 RPG, and 6.0 APG for the Miami Heat in the playoffs and cemented his status as a top-10 player in the league. It’ll be interesting to see whether he can bring the team back to the Finals once again in the future.

Jimmy Butler Previously Claimed That He Can’t Appreciate This Playoff Run Without A  Championship

There is no doubt that even though many can appreciate what Jimmy Butler has accomplished in these playoffs, he himself likely isn’t happy. In fact, he previously stated that he wouldn’t be able to appreciate these playoffs without a championship.

“Not at all. At the beginning of the year, we talked about winning a championship, competing to get to this point, so that’s always the goal with the Heat. It’s about winning, not individual anything. It’s about holding that trophy collectively, as a unit to be the best team. That’s where we’re at. All the odds, the eighth seed, none of that matters. It’s two really good basketball teams. One of them has to get one win, the other has to get three. Let’s hope the other can get the three.”

There is no doubt that Jimmy Butler has a desire to win at all costs, and unfortunately, he wasn’t able to go all the way this season. However, he will have an opportunity to do so next year, and we’ll see what happens in the future.
