Coming into the 2023 playoffs, the Nuggets still had a lot to prove in the eyes of the NBA community. For all the success the Nuggets had in the regular season, they haven’t yet won the title, and many fans were doubting they were ready to get it done this year.

Of course, we all saw how this season played out, and it’s the Nuggets who stand on the verge of being the last team standing. Up 3-1 over Miami in the Finals, the Nuggets need just one more win to call themselves the champions. And, according to 4x champ Draymond Green, Monday will be the day when the series comes to a close.

“The Denver Nuggets know. They know. This is ours .. no disrespect to the Miami Heat, but this is ours. We’re NBA Champions. It’s just a date now, getting to the date when you can be NBA champions. I told you all before the series I had the Nuggets in five and I don’t see that changing. So, your 2022-2023 NBA Champions – Denver Nuggets.”

The series is obviously not over, and the Heat are a team that always seems to play well when everyone is counting them out. So, expect Denver to bring their best on Monday with the championship in sight.

Are The Nuggets A Budding Dynasty?

It’s still premature to compare the Nuggets to the Heat or Warriors, but if they manage to keep this core of players intact, who is to say they can’t win several more titles over the next few years?

At the very least, with Jokic, they will be in the mix every single year.

“This is the best team I’ve seen in five years,” said Bill Simmons on the Nuggets. “It’s mostly because of how great Jokic is but also how they play off each other and how they always just get a good shot no matter what the scenario is… They definitely beat any of the 2018 teams, they would’ve beaten any of the bubble teams… I am saying the injured Warriors, nobody was beating those Durant-Curry Warriors.”

Nobody can deny the greatness and impact of Jokic any longer, but you are kidding yourself if you think this is just the beginning of his run. At 28 years old, there is still plenty of time to stack more awards in the trophy case.

Meanwhile, the rest of the West will be spending all summer trying to play catch-up.
