The Denver Nuggets and Miami Heat are going to meet in the 2023 NBA Finals. It’ll be a good way for the teams to rematch after their 2021 battle that saw Nikola Jokic shove Markieff Morris in the back in response to a hip check.

Morris ended up missing most of the season as a result of that and Jimmy Butler took umbrage to the incident, getting ready to fight Jokic and the Nuggets for that. He has addressed the incident prior to Game 1 of the Finals.

“I don’t think so. I think there was a lot of stuff about that whole situation that people don’t understand and I will let that stay back there. I don’t think it has too much to do with anything, it’s a thing of the past. This is high-level competition, but I will say, I wasn’t talking to Jokic. That wasn’t my beef, you can write that. The individual I was talking to definitely knew who I was talking to.”

That incident is remembered for popularizing the Jokic brothers, but his recent comments make it seem like it could be someone else. Ultimately, it is in the past, and Morris isn’t on the Heat anymore, so this series should bring us some incredible basketball and less drama.

Jimmy Butler Completes The Greatest Playoff Run Of All Time

If the Heat win this season as the eighth seed, it will probably supersede the 2011 Dallas Mavericks’ championship run, given the scale of difficulty the Heat have had to face. They beat both the No. 1 and 2 seeds in the East and will have to topple the No. 1 seed in the West to win the title. That’s too large a sample size for people to call it a fluke, and Jimmy Butler will instantly elevate himself to the status of an all-time legend.

It’s a significant challenge ahead of a tired Heat team that played a grueling seven-game series right now. Regardless, they will be ready to pounce on any mistakes Denver makes and stack wins one by one, as they did against Boston despite being underdogs in all four of their wins.
