In a blockbuster trade that is sure to shake up the NBA landscape, the Boston Celtics, Golden State Warriors, and Washington Wizards could possibly agree to a three-team deal that will see multiple star players changing teams. In what will be seeing stiff negotiations, the trade involves a total of four players and several draft picks, which will shake up the NBA. The centerpiece of the trade is All-Star shooting guard Bradley Beal, who will be heading to Boston in exchange for a package that includes Marcus Smart, Derrick White, and two first-round picks heading elsewhere. The move is seen as a major coup for the Celtics, who have been looking for a way to upgrade their backcourt and add another elite playmaker to their roster. After Boston’s shocking Game 7 beatdown at home to the Miami Heat, adding another star player could make up for their offensive inefficiencies. Even if some fans want Jaylen Brown gone, keeping him and adding more help could make the most sense.

Meanwhile, in exchange for acquiring Marcus Smart, the Warriors will be sending Jordan Poole to the Wizards. Poole, who has had an up-and-down season since his contract extension, still scored the ball at a strong level as he averaged 20.4 PPG in the regular season. This is a trade that is sure to have major ramifications for all three teams involved. The Celtics are hoping that Beal will be the missing piece that helps them contend for a championship, while the Warriors are adding another talented two-way player to their already-potent lineup. As for the Wizards, the trade represents a major shakeup of their roster, as they begin the process of rebuilding around a new core of players. In the end, only time will tell whether this trade could be a success for any of the teams involved, but one thing is for sure: it will make for some compelling basketball in the years to come.

Here are the trade details of the blockbuster deal that will shake up the NBA for a few years. All three teams add important pieces to their rosters and will make an incredible start to the 2023-24 NBA season.

Trade Details

Boston Celtics Receive: Bradley Beal

Golden State Warriors Receive: Marcus Smart

Washington Wizards Receive: Jordan Poole, Derrick White, 2023 First-Round Pick, 2024 First-Round Pick

Obviously, this is a massive trade that will change the way each team progresses into next season and the future, and it is time to go through each factor in this deal.

Boston Finally Has A Big Three To Get Over The Hump

Bradley Beal is a proven All-Star and one of the best players in the league, making him a coveted trade target for any team looking to bolster their roster. The Boston Celtics are no exception, as they have reportedly been linked to trade talks involving Beal in recent years. Adding Beal to the Celtics would instantly provide them with a reliable scorer and playmaker. Beal has averaged over 22 PPG for the past seven seasons and has improved his assist and rebounding numbers over the years. His shooting ability is also highly valuable, having shot 37.2% from three-point range throughout his career. These offensive skills would make him an excellent complement to All-Stars Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, forming a formidable “Big Three” for the Celtics.

Furthermore, Beal’s experience and leadership would be invaluable to Boston’s relatively young team. He has been to three All-Star games and is well-respected around the league as an offensive player who can take over games with his scoring. Beal could help guide young players like Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Marcus Smart while also providing veteran leadership to the entire team. The Celtics have had championship aspirations in recent years but have fallen short, including the latest Game 7 against the Miami Heat. Boston struggled to get their offense going, and Jaylen Brown is not the answer alone whenever Tatum is going through his own struggles.

Adding Beal to their roster could be the missing piece they need to become legitimate contenders. His scoring ability and experience would be invaluable in the postseason, where tight games and clutch performances are imperative. Overall, Bradley Beal would be an incredible addition to the Boston Celtics as he would provide scoring, playmaking, shooting, and leadership to a team that is looking to win it all. If a trade can be worked out, the Celtics could become formidable foes for any team in the league.

Golden State Adds Defense, Shooting, And Experience

Marcus Smart is a highly versatile and tenacious player who would make an incredible addition to the Golden State Warriors. He has proven to be a fierce competitor, with an impressive skill set that could help the Warriors in multiple ways. Smart is widely recognized as one of the best defensive players in the NBA, having captured the Defensive Player of the Year award last season. This is something that would be particularly valuable for the Warriors as they have struggled to maintain a strong defense this season, finishing 17th in defensive rating and 21st in OPPG. That simply won’t cut it for the Warriors to make it back to the NBA Finals.

Smart is a ferocious defender who can guard multiple positions and has excellent instincts. His presence on defense would help strengthen the Warriors’ weak spots and improve their overall team defense, as the player averaged 1.5 SPG and 0.4 BPG this season. In addition to his defensive skills, Smart is also an excellent playmaker who posted 6.3 APG despite not being a major offensive player. He has a high basketball IQ and is adept at creating opportunities for his teammates and has proven he can play alongside other stars, including Tatum and Brown.

This would be particularly valuable for the Warriors as they thrive on ball movement and sharing the ball. Smart’s ability to facilitate the offense would help the Warriors maintain a fluid offensive style while also allowing other players to rest and recover. Smart’s relentless work ethic and vocal leadership on and off the court would also create a “Draymond Green” effect in terms of providing defensive versatility. His passion and focus could help motivate and inspire the Warriors to play at their best, especially during crucial moments of a game or season. Overall, Smart’s defensive skills, playmaking ability, and leadership qualities make him an attractive addition to the Golden State Warriors. Instead of an offensive player with defensive liabilities in Jordan Poole, the Warriors can add Marcus Smart to provide hellacious defense alongside Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.

Wizards Rebuild Quickly And Effectively

Jordan Poole, along with two first-round picks, would be a significant addition to the Washington Wizards. Poole is a young shooting guard who has shown great promise despite his inconsistencies with the Golden State Warriors. Poole averaged 20.4 PPG and 4.5 APG on 33.6% shooting from three this season and only 10.3 PPG on 25.4% shooting from three in the playoffs. Obviously, Poole let the Warriors down with his play in the playoffs, and a win-now side can’t afford to wait for the shooting guard to get to his best level. Instead, moving him to a rebuilding side that will give him time makes the most sense.

Poole has demonstrated an ability to score in a variety of ways, using his quick release and sharpshooting ability to knock down perimeter shots, and has also shown his athleticism with explosive finishes at the rim. In addition, the Wizards would also receive two valuable first-round picks that could be used to further bolster their roster. The picks would give the team flexibility to select key players in the draft that could fit well with the team’s future goals. This would help Washington to build a strong core of young talent that can grow and develop together, with the potential to create a championship-contending team in the near future. Bradley Beal has been an incredible player for the franchise, but he won’t be the answer for Washington to win a title over the next couple of seasons.

Instead, adding Jordan Poole and two first-round picks would be a smart move for the Washington Wizards. Poole has the potential to be a dynamic scorer and an excellent cornerstone in the backcourt, while the two first-round picks would provide valuable investment for a franchise that has struggled to maintain long-term success in recent years. Poole is only 23 years old and has another 10 years to play at a very high level which makes him a franchise cornerstone. Meanwhile, Derrick White is a two-way guard who can also be kept for the long-term, but at 28 years old, he could be traded elsewhere for more draft assets. The Wizards need to be sellers, and trading their All-Star Bradley Beal is the way forward for the team.
