Shaquille O’Neal was under fire after Game 5 between the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Lakers, seemingly laughing at Anthony Davis for being taken out of the game in a wheelchair.
O’Neal and Charles Barkley were blasted by fans for seemingly mocking AD, just like others did with Stephen A. Smith for taking the situation as a joke. Now, the Big Diesel clarified his actions during Wednesday’s edition of Inside the NBA, stating that he didn’t make fun of anybody.
“On whether or not he was mocking Davis’ injury, O’Neal said, ‘I ain’t making fun of nobody, that’s not what I do. But I do know you’re not going to stop me from playing in that Game 6.'”
Talking with Jason Jones of The Athletic, Shaq added that he was one of those players who could take almost anything and stay playing, even explaining that some injuries caused him trouble even after his retirement.
“You see why I walk funny?” O’Neal said. “Because I sucked it up. You see why my toes don’t bend? Because I sucked it up.”
Shaq has become famous for criticizing players from this new generation, and coincidentally, a couple of months ago, he said AD had a big fallout. The big man responded by leveling up and now is a key piece for the Lakers again.
Without AD, the Purple and Gold would have a big problem against the Golden State Warriors and the team is well aware of that.

Fortunately, the Lakers announced that Davis will be available for tonight’s game, as they try to close this series out and advance to the Western Conference Finals. If they do it, they will face the Denver Nuggets again.
Things could get very interesting if the Warriors force a Game 7, but AD, LeBron James and co. will try to seal the deal tonight and focus on Nikola Jokic and his Nuggets for the next round.
