The Golden State Warriors defeated the Los Angeles Lakers in a convincing Game 5 win, with the score finishing 106-121. The Warriors stayed alive to fight another day, and a huge part of this was Steve Kerr changing up the game plan for the team and making adjustments.
Recently, Draymond Green claimed that Steve Kerr is “one of the best ever” when it comes to adjustments in the playoffs, noting that his game plans have not failed the Warriors thus far.
“(Steve Kerr’s) game plan has never failed up to this point,” Green said, per Anthony Slater of The Athletic. “So if he comes in and says, ‘Hey, we’re going heavy pick-and-roll tonight,’ that’s what we’re doing. If he comes in and says, ‘We’re going more to our regular sets,’ that’s what we’re doing. We trust his adjustments. He’s one of the best ever at making playoff adjustments.”
There’s no doubt that continuous adjustments in the playoffs can be the difference between losing and winning a series. Steve Kerr didn’t win four championships as a coach by accident, and we’ll see if he can help the Warriors overcome a 3-1 deficit against the Lakers.
Steve Kerr Believes The Warriors’ Big 3 Still Has Plenty Of Years Left In Them
There has been a lot of talk about the Warriors’ dynasty potentially being over, especially since they went down 3-1 against the Lakers. However, coach Steve Kerr clearly believes the Warriors still have a lot left in the tank, claiming that the big 3 of Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson have a lot of years left in them.
“No. No. Never crossed my mind,” Kerr said. “I played on those Bulls teams, the ‘Last Dance,’ I can tell you from experience, even though everybody now says, ‘Well, why didn’t they keep that team together?’ That team was done, that team was finished. Emotionally, mentally, there was nothing left in the tank. I don’t feel that way about this team at all, I think these guys, Steph (Curry), Klay (Thompson), Draymond (Green), they’ve got lots to give for years to come. I never even have stopped to give that a second thought.”
It remains to be seen if the Warriors dynasty will continue after this season. They are the reigning champions, and should never be counted out. Stephen Curry has already expressed confidence that the team can make a comeback. They definitely have the ability to force a Game 7, and we’ll see what ends up happening in the future.
