The Los Angeles Lakers couldn’t overcome the Memphis Grizzlies in Game 5 and failed to eliminate them the first time of asking.
The Lakers will hope to end the series at home in Game 6 but coach Darvin Ham doesn’t think they’re under pressure after the game.
“We were told we won’t be here in the first place. So it’s no pressure. Just basketball.”

It doesn’t matter if nobody expected them to be here, the only thing that matters is that they are there now. The players have looked to be playing pressure-free basketball in Game 5, and they definitely need to come out with a lot of aggression in Game 6. They need a repeat of the energy they used in their historic 35-9 first quarter in Game 3 to come out hot for their final home game of the series.
Will The Lakers Come Out With The Right Mentality?
Complacency has been a massive issue for the Lakers for most of the season. Whether it was the crucial regular season loss to the Houston Rockets or their performance in Game 2 of this series, there are problems with the Lakers’ attitude at the start of games. It’s on the coach to ensure his team comes out fired up and ready for battle.
LeBron James has assured fans he will overcome his Game 5 struggles and have a strong performance in the next game, while Anthony Davis said he’s ready to play 48 minutes if needed to close this series out. The players have the right mentality going in and all that remains is for coach Ham to execute and gameplan to finish this off. Game 7 in Memphis may be a challenge that they don’t need on their plates.
