Charles Barkley is one of the most fun personalities the NBA has ever seen. He was serious and intense on the basketball court but has always been funny and entertaining off of it. His media career has only highlighted this.
Charles Barkley has gone off on many rants, about women in San Antonio, for example. But most of the jokes made at his expense are about his love for food. And this take of his about pizza and the NBA from one of his books recently went viral on social media.
“Let me tell you something, folks. Pizza and basketball go together like peanut butter and jelly. And let me tell you, I know a thing or two about pizza. I mean, I may not have won a championship, but I’ve definitely won a pizza-eating contest or two.
“But seriously, when it comes to basketball, you gotta have the right fuel. And for me, that fuel is pizza. I mean, it’s got all the food groups, right? You got your bread, your cheese, your veggies – if you’re into that sort of thing – and your meat. It’s like a well-balanced meal, except way more delicious.
“And don’t even get me started on the toppings. You got your pepperoni, your sausage, your mushrooms, your onions. It’s like a party in your mouth. And speaking of parties, that’s what basketball is all about, right? It’s a party on the court. And what’s a party without pizza? It’s like Shaq without Kobe, or MJ without Scottie. It just doesn’t work.”
The comparisons to Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant are pretty wild, and overall, this whole thing sounds just like some wild stuff Charles Barkley would say. His love for food has not diminished, as Shaquille O’Neal keeps reminding him.
Shaquille O’Neal Took A Hilarious Shot At Barkley’s Eating Habits During An Argument
Charles Barkley was never the most aesthetically shredded athlete, especially not in his later years. The photo of him eating pizza in college is iconic, but there’s a reason he struggled with his weight coming into the league. And Chuck does love his food, with Shaquille O’Neal taking a hilarious dig at him during an argument recently.
“Ernie… He been eating Krispy Kreme omelet for breakfast this morning.”
Charles Barkley had a stellar comeback for that himself, but that is not the point. He manages to mix two things that wouldn’t go together, sports and unhealthy food, and somehow makes it funny. Charles Barkley is truly one of a kind.
