Charles Barkley is regarded as one of the best players to ever play in the NBA. But Barkley’s eating habits were undoubtedly out of control.

So much so that there were rumors that Barkley ordered 100 pizzas in the first 200 days of his college life. The NBA legend confirmed these rumors in 2016 during an interview with Graham Bensinger.

“That’s somewhat true; it was close to 70, 80, 100 times? But that was only because meals were on a set schedule,” Barkley said. “What happened was, we didn’t finish practice in time to eat most of the time, to be honest with you. By the time you practice and take a shower, and relax, it is too late to eat. Or you get there, and all the good stuff is gone, and about 10 or 11 o’clock, you’re hungry. So we ordered pizza 3,4 times a week, no question.”

Barkley has always had a tough time when it came to keeping his weight in check. That’s one of the biggest reasons why Chuck has always tried to help players like Zion Williamson to deal with the hate of people calling them overweight.

Moses Malone Motivated Charles Barkley To Get Into Shape

There was a time when Charles Barkley weighed 300 pounds. Evidently, Barkley was having a somewhat hard time dominating his opponents.

But it all changed when the 76ers legend Moses Malone gave an important piece of advice to Barkley.

“I asked Moses, ‘Can I come to your condo tonight?’ So, I go up there and I said, mostly, ‘Why am I not getting a plate?’ And he said, ‘Hey, you’re fat, and you’re lazy.’ And it was the greatest conversation and the worst conversation mixed in because it was hard for me to hear that. He said, ‘Hey, you weigh 300 pounds’. Here’s a guy who’s one of the greatest ever took me on this wing. He said, ‘Let’s lose 10 pounds,’ I get to 290. Once I got to 250, I was just kicking a**.”

Malone gave Barkley a filter-free reality check which helped him in getting into top-notch shape.

Although Barkley was never able to win an NBA Championship, he still became one of the best players in the league, thanks to this advice by Malone.
