In what happens to the first time of its kind, all four teams from California will play in the postseason.

The LA Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers, Golden State Warriors, and Sacramento Kings are all in the postseason this time between positions 3 and 7.

The Sacramento Kings were one of the more clinical units finishing third in the West with a solid 48-34 record. The Clippers, buoyed by the arrival of Russell Westbrook, were fifth in the standings.

The Warriors, who were wobbly all season, finally hit their straps in the final stretch to finish sixth, while the Lakers, who started off 0-5, clawed their way back into playoff contention and finally nailed the seventh seed after their OT thriller against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Klay Thompson And Draymond Green Explain Why They Wanted To Face The Sacramento Kings In The Playoffs

Golden State superstars Klay Thompson and Draymond Green will be quite pleased to face the Kings in the playoffs.

Thompson was all sporty about it. “That’d be amazing…That’d be special for Northern California,” Thompson said, according to ClutchPoints.

“They’ve got great fans, we’ve got great fans. Mike B’s got them boys playing together and hard. That’d be really cool just for Northern California, which is a basketball hotbed at the moment. It would be nice for the travel; that would be really nice.”

This was seconded by Green, who also used travel as one of the key reasons why they wanted to face Sacramento.

Proximity aside, Green and Thompson are also part of a crack unit that includes the likes of Stephen Curry and Andrew Wiggins, who are all proven matchwinners.

While the Kings come into the playoffs for the first time since the 2005-06 season, the Warriors make the postseason as defending champions and will surely benefit from the championship DNA and experience. Only time will tell if the Kings can light the beam and light up the first-round clash.
