The Los Angeles Lakers locker room wasn’t exactly a great place to be in during the first half of the season, but things have certainly changed after trade deadline day.
The new pieces brought in fit ever so well together on the court, and it would appear they get along well off it as well. Following their win over the Houston Rockets on Sunday, Jarred Vanderbilt had some big praise for teammate Rui Hachimura.
RUI HACHIMURA!! 1st team!
— Jarred Vanderbilt (@JVando) April 3, 2023
Hachimura has been excellent on defense recently, and Vanderbilt is calling for him to make All-Defensive First Team. Considering these two are competing for the same spot in the starting lineup, it is great to see Vanderbilt hyping him up. Hachimura did have his best game as a Laker against the Rockets, finishing with 20 points, 12 rebounds, and 3 blocks as they won 134-109.
It was their third straight win, and in the locker room after the game, Lakers players hilariously made goat noises when LeBron James was being interviewed. They are all having fun together, and the team is very much on the ascendancy.
The Lakers Have A Good Chance Of Finishing With The Fifth Seed
The Lakers are now 13-6 after the All-Star break and are just half a game behind the fifth seed in the Western Conference. They are currently seventh with a 40-38 record, while both the fifth-seeded Los Angeles Clippers and the sixth-seeded Golden State Warriors are at 41-38.
They control their own destiny now because if the Lakers win every game from here on, they will get the 5th seed. Their biggest game of the season will be against the Clippers on the 5th of April, and the winner of the game will, in all likelihood, finish in the top six. Considering how badly their season started, it is incredible that the Lakers even have this opportunity, and they’ll be keen not to blow it.
