Jordan Poole is a hard player to gauge. He has the talent, and he has shown the ability to be a star scorer in the NBA. However, he has struggled with consistency, especially during the 2022-23 season.

Jordan Poole put up some big performances when Stephen Curry was missing, but he had just as many subpar ones too. And according to Heavy, a Western Conference executive has revealed that Poole hasn’t lived up to the Golden State Warriors expectations.

“He has not been the guy they needed after he got the contract this summer,” he said of Poole. “He will give you 30 one night then go 5-for-20 the next. It is tough. The thing with Draymond in the offseason, obviously that hurt the chemistry of the team.

“But it looks like it put some pressure on Poole, too, that he has not responded to. He is a little better attacking the basket and being a playmaker, he has improved.

“But he just has not been right as a scorer and shooter and it is like he feels he needs to show he belongs on the same level as Steph and Klay (Thompson)—he shoots and shoots and shoots, probably too much.”

The Draymond Green-Jordan Poole incident from the offseason continues to haunt the team, it resurfaced again during a game recently where Green was visibly frustrated. And apparently, that has continued to be a factor in the way Poole has been playing

Jordan Poole’s Inconsistency Could Be Due To Draymond Green Altercation, Says NBA Executive

The video of Draymond Green punching Jordan Poole went viral before the season began, and it was the talk of the NBA for a few weeks. They since seemed to have patched things up nominally, but it’s clear that they’re far from being friends. And the executive thinks that Poole might be feeling the pressure to do a lot because of the way things went down during the offseason.

“I don’t know, it is like he got punched and now wants to make sure that is not what people think of when they think of him. I am not a psychologist but that is how it looks on film.”

Jordan Poole has averaged 20.7 points per game, which is good, but his efficiency has been very bad. He is shooting 42% from the field for the season and 32% from three-point range, which is simply not good enough. He needs to take another step if he wants to continue the explosive growth he has recently enjoyed.
