Draymond Green Reiterates That Warriors vs. Grizzlies Is Not A Rivalry: “Anybody Can Win In March”

Draymond Green still doesn't look at the Memphis Grizzlies as rivals after big loss tonight.

Draymond Green was in for a rough evening in Memphis as the Warriors lost to the Grizzlies after a few days of fierce trash-talk between Green and Dillon Brooks.

Even after the 110-131 loss, Green went on to reiterate that the Grizzlies are not rivals to the Warriors, and winning a game in March doesn’t change that.

This was a little unfair for Draymond to say, as the Warriors also took victory laps around Memphis after their Christmas Day win this season. Green had to succumb to more trash-talk from Dillon Brooks after the game as well, so playoff success for both teams will define the parameters of the rivalry.

Draymond needs to realize that no one is arguing about the past. But Memphis is the young team on the rise with a better record than the Warriors, who seem to finally be past their championship heyday. A 7-26 road record this season shows the Warriors aren’t the juggernaut they were even last season.

A Big Summer In Golden State

Many are still optimistic about the Warriors’ chances in the playoffs but it’s hard to see how this team can put it together now after they’ve failed to do so for 67 games this season. Golden State has been a .500 team for basically the entire season. If this season doesn’t yield success, what does Golden State do?

Draymond Green could be a free agent this summer while GM Bob Myers is touted to end his tenure with the Warriors as well. Klay Thompson’s contract is going to expire in 2024 as well, so a lot of decisions on how to rebuild this team need to be made. Hopefully, they realize they need to pick between their future and present and use their talented young assets to make a move back toward contention.
