Andrew Wiggins was one of the notable absentees in the Golden State Warriors’ comprehensive 115-91 win against the LA Clippers on Thursday. In fact, it made the sixth straight game that the forward has missed for the defending champions.
Recently, GM Bob Myers offered some insight into the 28-year-old’s absence, citing that Wiggins missed the games due to “personal reasons,” and the prolonged absence could only mean that he’s dealing with something serious, the extent of which is unknown.

Myers opined that Wiggins’ absence wasn’t a long-term one. Speaking on 95.7 The Game, he said, “I think what you’re asking is – could he remain out for a long, long time? I don’t think that’s happening. I’m going to leave that alone. Hopefully, when he gets back, whatever words he would like to say on it, which I don’t think will be much – it’s his private life – he will do.”
On the season front, Wiggins has had a productive season for the Warriors averaging 17.1 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.2 steals in the 37 games he’s played this season.
It has been that sort of a season for the player. Initially, he missed 20 games after being hampered by an adductor strain. This was followed by a foot injury and then a non-COVID illness. The personal time that he’s taken further dents what has otherwise been a good run on the hardwood.
Safe to say, Wiggins has been one of the hardest-working players in the NBA and has built a name for himself as one of the reliable glue guys. The forward was instrumental in the team’s winning run last season, chipping in with 17.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.2 assists.
Apart from Stephen Curry, who ended up as the Finals MVP, Wiggins was the best Warrior on the court as the side defeated the Denver Nuggets, Memphis Grizzlies, Dallas Mavericks, and Boston Celtics to clinch their fourth trophy in eight seasons.
His scintillating play last year and the game-winning 2022 Finals performance saw the franchise reward him with a well-deserved 4-year, $109 million extension last year in October.
Wiggins’ improved defensive play and his ability to knock down shots even if given an inch of space make him one of the deadliest players in the clutch, and that has been one of the missing sparks for the Dubs this season.
The Warriors need Wiggins, but so does family. And prayers are up for the immensely talented forward, along with the hope that he makes the court soon.
