Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was ready to show out in his first-ever NBA All-Star Game appearance this season. Shai is proving he is one of the brightest stars in the NBA and is in the race to be the scoring champion this season.

Shai was drafted by Giannis Antetokounmpo for the match-winning Team Giannis and had a strong showing, scoring 9 points on 5 shots. He shot 4/5, so what happened the one time he missed a shot? Well, LeBron James happened.

The only missed shot came when LeBron skied in for one of his trademark chase-down blocks and swatted the shot away.

Shai wasn’t happy with the block, saying that LeBron didn’t play defense all game until he had the chance for that block. He told everyone that he’s going to have something for LeBron the next time the Thunder face the Lakers.

“He wasn’t playing no defense but the one time I tried to get a dunk, he wanna play defense. I got something for him next time.”

Shai seems genuinely upset, but maybe it’s because the Thunder have been taking some big wins at the expense of LeBron’s Lakers in the last 2 seasons. The Thunder ruined LeBron’s night when he became the league’s all-time scorer, so maybe this was just a message from a veteran to a rising star.

How Was The 2023 NBA All-Star Game?

The 2023 NBA All-Star Game saw Team Giannis ending the 5-year winning streak of Team LeBron and handing LBJ his first-ever loss as an All-Star captain under the new format. Despite this happening and Jayson Tatum breaking the All-Star scoring record, the game has been poorly received.

Jaylen Brown and Michael Malone openly ripped into the lack of defense and competitiveness in the game, with fans on Twitter also calling it one of the worst All-Star games in history. Fans will be praying that something is done to encourage more competitiveness from the players, as the game sorely missed the edge with which players have competed, even going back to just the 2020 All-Star Game.
