Former NBA star Gilbert Arenas’ thoughts on Utah Jazz guard Russell Westbrook deciding the winner of this year’s NBA championship sent fans into a tizzy.

Westbrook had a tumultuous less-than-two seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers averaging 15.9 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 7.5 assists this year. He did have a better run in his second season with the side using him as their sixth man. However, he was traded to the Jazz before the deadline and is now in demand as a buyout candidate.

The explosive guard has already been generating interest from multiple franchises and has been closely linked to the LA Clippers. On the back of these developments, Gilbert made the claim in the recent edition of “No Chill with Gilbert Arenas.”

“This man alone changes who wins the championship this year. If Westbrook calls KD and says, ‘I want to come help win a championship, I’ll come off the bench.’ KD’s gonna say, ‘alright.’ If he goes to Boston, you don’t think that makes them better than the Bucks? You don’t think that puts them over the edge? If he goes to Milwaukee, you don’t think that puts them over the edge? If he goes to Philly?”

Here’s what fans had to say about Westbrook changing the entire winning formula this season. While some felt it was enough of a statement to troll him and the 34-year-old, some had different opinions.

Westbrook’s acceptance to be the sixth man showed his adaptability, and the energy he brings off helps any team win if he continues to be his consistent self, he would be an asset to any of the teams.

Russell Westbrook Set To Meet With Kawhi Leonard And Paul George Ahead Of Potential Clippers Stint

The Clippers were one of the teams granted permission to talk with Westbrook as they still believe that he is a good fit for the team. There have also been reports of the team looking at him as a starter alongside Kawhi Leonard and Paul George.

According to Law Murray of The Athletic, Westbrook will reportedly meet with both the Clippers superstars.

As The Athletic reported Thursday, LA received permission to speak to Westbrook and talks have started among franchise officials. In that meeting, the two parties communicated what Westbrook’s role could be. Westbrook is set to meet with Paul George and Kawhi Leonard in the near future as he continues to mull over his options prior to the March 1 playoff eligibility waiver deadline.

For now, the guard is considering his options and has been looking at the All-Star break as a way to recalibrate before he takes a call on his next landing spot.
