The Golden State Warriors have struggled to find form this season, there are no two ways to look at it. Considering the Dubs won the 2022 NBA Championship, many expected the Warriors to continue that form this season as well.

Unfortunately, the Warriors have played far below expectations and are simply looking like shells of their last season championship campaign. Many are blaming their poor form this season on the championship hangover from the previous.

While that might be true, but as per longtime Warriors star Draymond Green, that’s certainly not the case.

Draymond Green On The Warriors Struggles This Season Being Linked To Championship Hangover

Draymond Green is one of the most vocal players out there. The 4x NBA champion is never afraid to speak his mind out on things. Be it personal or related to his team, Green never seems to back off from being honest about things.

The 32-year-old recently did the same when he was asked whether the Warriors’ troubles this season could be linked to winning the title last season.

Via ClutchPoints:

I don’t think it’s a championship hangover. It’s a will to want to defend. You’re not hungover at .500, 60 games into the season. You’re a loser if you’re still hungover at that point, so there’s no hangover. It’s the will to defend, stop and guard your man, sink in help and trap the box, rotate. Defense is all one to two steps extra. I’ma take that extra step to get there or I’m not. That’s all will, and we don’t have that as a team.”

Following the Warriors’ most recent defeat against the Los Angeles Clippers, the Warriors have fallen to a 29-29 record, which puts them 9th in the Western Conference.

As Green mentioned, if the Warriors were still hung over about winning the title last season, they wouldn’t even have ,500 record. Either way, the Warriors need to figure out a way to at least clinch a play-in spot. But with Stephen Curry out for several games due to injury, it will not be an easy task by any means.
