Draymond Green is one of the best defensive players in the league. He is a forward that is comfortable guarding both the perimeter and the interior and is capable of guarding all five positions effectively. Draymond Green has anchored multiple championship-level defenses with the Warriors, and it is quite likely that he’ll be in the Hall of Fame in the future.

The Golden State Warriors won a title in 2022, but they have been an inconsistent team this year. They are only 22-22 right now but have still managed to be the 6th seed in the Western Conference. Recently, Draymond Green admitted that the “shortcomings” are his fault, noting that he hasn’t been the leader that he is accustomed to being.

I think a lot of our shortcomings this year is my fault… I have not been the leader that I am, and that I need to be for this team… The reason that I have not been that leader is also my fault… we all know with the young Wolverine brother JP… I’ve kind of had to walk a fine line of not being Draymond. When I’m not really being myself that’s not the best thing for this team. Where we’ve struggled is accountability… on the defensive end… on the offensive end. That’s my role on this team and I fell short in that area.

There is no doubt that Draymond Green is often considered the “heart and soul” of the Golden State Warriors franchise. He is consistently the vocal leader on the team, and his leadership clearly makes a difference. Hopefully, we see Draymond Green and the Warriors figure things out, and go on a winning run in the future.

Draymond Green Explained Why He Punched Jordan Poole

Prior to the beginning of the regular season, Draymond Green was involved in an incident where he punched teammate Jordan Poole. Recently, the forward explained why he punched Poole, claiming that he was dealing with something “heavy” in his life that day.

“There are times where you enter the basketball gym and it’s a sanctuary for a lot of us. You walk on that court and you lose yourself in the game you lose yourself and for that hour, hour and a half you lose yourself in the game. And there are times on the court where it just don’t do that. That day, that week, I was dealing with something in my life so heavy. I don’t wanna share exactly what that is, but that day I wasn’t able to lose myself in that practice. And so because I was not able to lose myself in that practice, everything that was going on in camp, I’m already on ten.”

It is easy to see that Draymond Green had a lot of emotions in his heart that day, but it is clear that the punch was unacceptable. However, both players are professionals and have already stated that their goal is to win championships.

Draymond Green needs to be the vocal leader that he is for the Warriors to be successful, but he is obviously struggling with that issue. Knowing him though, he’ll be back to his usual ways soon enough, and when that happens, the Warriors will become one of the teams with a legitimate chance to win a championship.
