After some difficult games against the Sacramento Kings and the Phoenix Suns, the Los Angeles Lakers were set to get some respite as they took on the Charlotte Hornets. The Hornets were down near the bottom of the Eastern Conference and came into the game after losing nine of their last 10 games.

Even without Anthony Davis, many would have this circled as a win for the Lakers, but it wasn’t to be. The Hornets came to L.A. and looked set for a comfortable win as they led by double-digits for much of the second half. The Lakers led by LeBron James‘ 18 points in the fourth quarter alone, would storm back to tie the game late, but they were unable to push through and get the win, as they lost 134-130.

LeBron, who scored a game-high 34 points, could have potentially sent the game to overtime, but he slipped as his shoe fell off and Dennis Schroder then missed a three that could have won them the game. Lakers fans were furious after this loss which dropped the to 13-19 on the season.

“Why are Schröder & Bev surrounding LeBron as shooters for a possible game winner?”

“And that’s a wrap on me following them for a bit. Need to take a mental break. See y’all next year.”

“Anyone that says this is LeBrons fault is just a hater”

“lakers wasted brons final years ☹️”

“Request a trade LeBron.”

“The lakers are going to keep losing games until they learn to stop playing Schroeder and Pat Bev over Russ and Reaves. The games are only ever competitive when they are in.”

“THATS THE SEASON.”

“You have Lebron out there battle it out on both ends in his 40s and you get him NO HELP. Jeanie Buss, Rob Polinka and all the front office should have some shame on themselves”

“OUT PELINKA! TRADE NOW!”

“Trade beverly !!”

“Bench played perfect. Start Russ, Trade Bev and Nunn. Reeves 6MOTY. Win enough to stay afloat”

“Bro we lost cuz LeBron didn’t tie his shoes right that pretty much describes the season”

“LeBron needs help please help him”

“The fact Austin reaves didn’t take the game winning shot breaks my heart”

“this is insane lol. This coach really has Patrick and Schorder playing more minutes than Russ?”

“Y’all are just opening the door for wemby to go straight to the pelicans”

“Trust lakers to lose an un-losable game”

“trade lebron y’all wasting his last years”

“Lebron did everything he could in the 4th quarter and still lost.”

“I’ll say it again. I hate you Rob Pelinka. Worst GM in Lakers history.”

The Lakers got some good production out of Austin Reaves who scored 20 points and Russell Westbrook who had 17 points to go with 7 assists but that was about it. There is only so much that LeBron can do by himself and it is crazy how badly some of the players on this roster are performing at the moment. The Lakers need Davis to come back as soon as possible and they got some good news on that front recently.

A Sports Doctor Gave Some Good News On Anthony Davis’ Injury

Davis went down in their win over the Nuggets last week and we got an update on his status recently when it was announced that he had a stress injury in his right foot. It is set to keep him out of action indefinitely, which was a source of great concern for fans but Dr. Rajpal Brar on Twitter said it is nothing to be too concerned about.

He stated that it is just an overload injury and hence he should be fine as he gets to reduce the load on it on the sidelines. The recovery differs on a case-by-case basis, which explains the indefinite timeline. The Lakers face the Dallas Mavericks next though and it could get ugly if LeBron’s supporting cast doesn’t show up as Luka Doncic is coming off a 50-point outing.
