The Chicago Bulls dynasty is undoubtedly one of the best teams ever assembled in the history of the NBA. During the 1990s, there was hardly any team that could go toe-to-toe against the Bulls, and it is evident from the fact that the organization won six NBA Championships in the decade.

The heroes of the Chicago Bulls during the era were Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, and Dennis Rodman, among others. Although Rodman faced off against the Bulls earlier when he was a member of the Detroit Pistons, he played a crucial role in helping Jordan win three NBA Championships. But there was obviously some bad blood between Rodman and Pippen, so head coach Phil Jackson made Rodman apologize to Pippen prior to joining the team.

Speaking of Pippen, a couple of years later, it was evident that he had enough of the Bulls and didn’t even want to play for them. He made it clear with several things, such as when Pippen had toe surgery right at the start of the season to make the Bulls mad.

Dennis Rodman Stepped Up When Scottie Pippen Wanted To Leave The Bulls

During the 1997-98 NBA season, Pippen was almost traded for Tracy McGrady, but Jordan threatened to retire if that trade was completed. Ultimately, the trade fell through, but Pippen was still adamant about not returning to the team.

Amidst all that chaos, Dennis Rodman revealed in ‘The Last Dance’ docuseries that he stepped up for Michael Jordan.

When Scottie left, Mike had a lot of confidence in me to knowing I’m gonna be there for him. I’m not going to let him down. I’m not going to let the team down. I’m not going to let the city down. No.”

There are no doubts about the fact that Rodman had his fair share of quirks. But when it mattered the most, he always showed up for the Bulls and helped them win games. Pippen returned to the team later that season and helped the team in winning the sixth NBA Championship.

But after that season, the Chicago Bulls dynasty broke up, and Pippen finally got his trade request fulfilled by getting traded to the Houston Rockets.
