The Miami Heat haven’t had a lot to be happy about for much of the 2022-23 NBA season. After nearly making it to the NBA Finals for the second time in three seasons last time out, the Heat got off to a 12-15 start here.

Charles Barkley made the bold claim that the Heat need to blow up their roster and start over, but if there is something we should have realized about this team by now, it is that you can never count them out. Miami has won their last three games to improve to 15-15 but they got in trouble with the league recently. The NBA fined them $25,000 for violating league injury reporting rules as they didn’t accurately disclose game availability status for several players before their outing against the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Heat responded in some petty fashion by listing every single player on the injury report.

The Heat do have some genuine injury problems, as they had 12 players on the injury report against the Houston Rockets but they put everyone on there this time around. They are probably sticking it to the league at this point but we doubt there is anything the NBA can do about it.

The Heat Are Looking To Make Some Moves

Despite that three-game winning run, the top brass in Miami knows they need to upgrade the roster. A Timberwolves insider reported that they are interested in D’Angelo Russell and they probably do need an upgrade on Kyle Lowry at point guard.

They are also monitoring the Russell Westbrook situation, as reports indicate they are a potential landing spot for Russ if he gets traded and bought out. They are also interested in Saddiq Bey and Bojan Bogdanovic, as they look to provide some support to Jimmy Butler on the offensive end. It seems like it is going to be a busy couple of months for the front office as they have their eyes set on another deep playoff run.
