It is a great time to be an NBA fan with the talent level in the league probably being at an all-time high. The old guard is still going strong as the likes of Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, and LeBron James are all playing at a high level while the up-and-comers have made their mark as well.
We have seen a lot of talented players come into the league in recent years in the guard positions, in particular. It is said that the NBA is a guard’s league now and with all the potential star power at those two positions, it is hard to see that changing in the coming years. Darius Garland and Tyrese Haliburton were two names that popped up quite often here. Garland was, of course, an All-Star last season while Haliburton seems likely to make it this season, as he currently leads the league in assists per game at over 10 a game. Someone who almost didn’t make it in at all for fans is Jordan Poole, something which would have seemed quite unlikely just a few months back.
Jordan Poole Has Struggled This Season
After signing that big extension with the Golden State Warriors prior to the season, Poole has struggled to make an impact. Head coach Steve Kerr was quite critical of his defense and Poole explained some of his offensive struggles by saying that teams are now guarding him like they guard Curry.
With Curry now expected to miss several weeks with a shoulder injury, they’ll be focusing on Poole even more and it is up to him to step up to the plate and deliver. He played well in Curry’s absence last season and the Warriors will need that kind of play from him once again if they are to stay afloat without their superstar.
