The NBA started fan voting for the All-Star game back in 1975 and while for the longest time it wasn’t much of an issue, it has become one recently, as any player could potentially get in, even if they didn’t really deserve it. We almost had Zaza Pachulia become a starter back in 2017 because of fan votes but fortunately, that very season was when the NBA had made it so that fans only accounted for 50% of the final vote, with the rest going to players and the media.
Another player on the Golden State Warriors did get to become an All-Star starter thanks to fan voting, though, which was, of course, Andrew Wiggins last season. Wiggins finished third in fan voting last season largely thanks to a Tweet from K-Pop star BamBam on a day when one vote counted for two. Wiggins who finished 5th in player votes and 6th in media votes became a starter over Rudy Gobert who was 3rd for players and 4th for media, but only 9th among fans. It seems the NBA does not want another situation where Twitter voting plays such a big role, as they are now only allowing votes on their website and app.
The NBA is implementing the “Andrew Wiggins rule” (as @larrybrownsport calls it), only allowing all-star votes in their app or on their website.

The Warriors had strategically planned out that post with BamBam who is their global ambassador so that Wiggins could become a starter but it doesn’t like it’ll work the second time around. Here’s who we predict will be the starters this season and it is a star-studded group!
While Wiggins definitely deserved to be an All-Star last season, just not as a starter, it looks at the moment like he won’t make it in at all this time. The Warriors have had a rough start and things just got rougher recently when Stephen Curry suffered a shoulder injury that will keep him out for several weeks.
The Warriors Seem To Be In For Some Rough Times
The Warriors were already without Wiggins who has been out with a right adductor strain. He missed his fifth straight game against the Philadelphia 76ers and the Warriors unsurprisingly lost without their two best players.
It is hard to see them winning too many games without those two and with their next three outings being on the road, a 6-game losing streak seems very much on the cards leading into Christmas. The Warriors should be fine in the long run, but this stretch is going to be brutal for them.
