Last Monday, the Phoenix Suns occupied the top spot in the Western Conference and were separating themselves from the rest of the Conference, with Devin Booker playing like an MVP. They had just beaten the San Antonio Spurs and were scheduled to rematch the Dallas Mavericks after a sensational win on opening night.

The Suns would get blown out by Dallas and followed it up with another one-sided loss to the Boston Celtics. However, it got really bad to end the week as the Suns lost to the New Orleans Pelicans in back-to-back matches, surrendering the No. 1 seed to them and plummeting to 4th in the conference.

Deandre Ayton revealed he wasn’t happy with the losses given his inspired form over the stretch.

Deandre Ayton after #Suns OT loss to #Pelicans: “You can’t tell me it’s frustrating when I play hard as hell. Do the best you can and the results are the results. This is regular season. At the end of the day we’re working on ourselves. I don’t care about no regular season game."

— Duane Rankin (@DuaneRankin) December 12, 2022

In his last 5 games, Ayton has averaged 21.2 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 2.6 assists. He is shooting on incredible efficiency, going 72.6% from the field in this stretch. However, Devin Booker’s inconsistent play and Chris Paul’s return to the lineup have hurt the Suns.

Can The Phoenix Suns Find Their Form Again?

We have seen plenty of Western Conference teams struggle over stretches this season. The Suns are entering their struggle now and will hope to find their rhythm over the final weeks of the year.

The team has struggled when faced with adversity consistently this season. The high-pressure games end up being costly for the Suns and there is no obvious remedy for that. This is one of the best teams in the NBA, something they’ve proven over the last few seasons in the regular season. Hopefully, they can rebound and still finish among the leaders in the West.
