Damian Lillard’s decision to stay with the Portland Trail Blazers has made him an exception in the modern NBA. At a time when stars are looking to jump ship at the slightest of inconvenience, Dame has been incredibly loyal to the Blazers and has made himself a fan favorite in the process.

He has been very vocal about it too, as he stated earlier this year after signing an extension that winning a championship with another team wouldn’t be as fulfilling. Those comments as well as the extension delighted Blazers fans and Dame has, over the years, given them plenty of reasons to be happy, with not all of them having something to do with his play on the court either!

Damian Lillard Once Made A Young Fan’s Day By Rating His Outfit

For any kid, the first day of school is a big occasion and one Blazers fan decided to sport a Lillard uniform for it. He took to Twitter to ask Dame to rate his outfit and surprisingly, did get a response from the star guard!

The kid later added that Lillard made his day and it definitely would have meant a lot to him to get that response. These NBA stars mean so much to so many fans and any interaction, no matter how short, would mean the world to them. This fan would have also earned all the bragging rights among his classmates and we can only imagine what the scenes would have been like when they all heard about it.

Lillard Now Eyes A Bounce-Back Season

Getting back to matters on the court, Lillard will be hoping that 2022-23 is a bounce-back season for him and the Blazers. After making the playoffs 8 seasons in a row, the team won just 27 games last season largely due to the fact that Lillard missed significant time due to injury for the first time in his career. He is healthy now and will look to lead a somewhat revamped roster to success.

The Blazers managed to get him some help by trading for Jerami Grant this offseason and they also signed Gary Payton II from Golden State for some much-needed defense in that backcourt. A playoff berth is on the cards with Anfernee Simons also showing some promising signs last season and they’ll be looking to Lillard to deliver once again.

His passion for the sport was ignited after witnessing the high-octane offense of the Steve Nash-led Phoenix Suns. Among the Suns, Shawn Marion stood out to Gautam as an all-time underrated NBA player. Marion’s versatility as a defender and his rebounding prowess, despite being just 6’7”, impressed Gautam immensely. He admired Marion’s finishing ability at the rim and his shooting, despite an unconventional jump shot, believing that Marion’s skill set would have been even more appreciated in today’s NBA.This transformative experience not only deepened his love for basketball but also shaped his approach to sports writing, enabling him to connect with readers through vivid storytelling and insightful analysis.
