Stephen Curry has one of the best playoff runs of his career this season. He ended up helping the Golden State Warriors win their fourth ring in the last eight seasons and also won the first NBA Finals MVP award of his career.
Although was without a doubt the best player for the Dubs for most of the postseason, he did start off the bench for the first four games of the first-round series against the Denver Nuggets.
Considering that Curry is one of the biggest superstars in the NBA, coming off the bench could have been an issue for him. We have seen many times that star players sometimes have an inflated ego and refuse to come off the bench, no matter what the case.
Fortunately, as per the Warriors head coach Steve Kerr, Curry is not one of them. Instead, Kerr revealed that Steph made a joke about it when he was asked to start the first few games off the bench.

“I go to him, I’m like, ‘Steph, if you want to start — you’re Steph Curry, you get to start if you want.’ It’s just matter-of-fact: ‘We’re playing great, Jordan [Poole] is in a great groove, we’re up 2-0, let’s keep going. Let’s keep going with this.’ The next several days, as he’s practicing and working, he’s like, ‘Look at me, Coach! Look how hard I’m working! I deserve this. I know I can do this!'”
Kerr added, “He was perfectly content coming off the bench. That’s Steph. What might be a serious issue with other players, it turned into a complete joke for him, where it’s like, we’re laughing at it.”
Stories like these prove that the Warriors have terrific chemistry between themselves. Apart from this, Kerr and Klay Thompson recently shared a moment when the latter made the promise of never wanting to play for another coach. Of course, Kerr responded to that pledge by Klay in a similar way.
All things considered, the Warriors are currently in a great place and could very well be on their way to winning at least one more championship before their current core is ready to retire.
