In Game 1 of the NBA Finals, the Boston Celtics shocked the world after registering a phenomenal victory over the Golden State Warriors. But an important aspect of being successful in the NBA is to follow a win with another great performance, especially in the NBA Finals.

Unfortunately, the Celtics failed to do so in Game 2 as they were comfortably defeated by the Warriors to tie the series at 1-1. Although the final score suggested that there was a vast difference between the two teams, reality can often be a bit different.

The Celtics at least tried to match the intensity of the Warriors in Game 2 of the finals. This resulted in the level of physicality increasing by a few notches. The perfect example of it was the heated scuffle between Jaylen Brown and Draymond Green right before halftime.

During the postgame conference, Brown was asked about his thoughts on the altercation, and he gave a very detailed answer to that confrontation with the Dubs forward.

"I don't know what I was supposed to do there. Somebody got their legs on the top of your head. And then he tried to pull my pants down."

“I’m just trying to play basketball. I feel like that was an illegal play. I feel like they could have called it, but they let it go in terms of a technical either way. But I don’t know what I was supposed to do there. Somebody got their legs on the top of your head and then he tried to pull my pants down. I don’t know what that was about.”

He continued, “That’s what Draymond Green does. He’ll do whatever it takes to win. He’ll pull you, he’ll grab you, he’ll try to muck the game up because that’s what he does for their team. It’s nothing to be surprised about. Nothing I’m surprised about. He raised his physicality to try to stop us and we’ve got to raise ours. Looking forward to the challenge.”

As Brown explained, the play by Green was indeed very confusing. Even more so when he already had a technical foul to his name, which he picked up back in the first quarter.

Had he been booked for another technical foul for that altercation with Jaylen Brown, Green would have been ejected from the game. Fortunately, the refs didn’t throw him out, which allowed the Warriors to easily win the game.
