The Los Angeles Lakers had a terrible season this year, missing out on the playoffs once again. The team, built around LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Russell Westbrook, was expected to win the NBA championship. But the team underperformed significantly, mostly due to injuries and not having most of their roster available to them. And that is certainly what LeBron James seems to think.
LeBron James spoke during his exit interview about the big three of himself, Anthony Davis, and Russell Westbrook, and why exactly their time together didn’t work out the way he expected. James noted that the trio almost never got time to play together on the court. LeBron joked that he played with his high school teammates more, and that the Lakers had many different lineups during the course of the season.
LeBron says he thought and Westbrook could compliment each other with Russ pushing tempo and LeBron running the wing and AD as a lob threat. "The reason why we weren't very good together? Because we weren't on the damn floor together"

LeBron says a big part of their problems this year was having so many different closing lineups and that the Lakers need players who can contribute on both ends of the floor

LeBron also noted that he thought he and Russell Westbrook would compliment each other very well, and Davis would’ve been a great component of their play as a lob threat. But things never quite worked out for them, and the Lakers never seemed to get going. The lack of game time together seemed to hamper the big three and they weren’t able to get to where they wanted to at the end of the season.
Russell Westbrook took some shots at LeBron James and Anthony Davis, suggesting that he didn’t get to be himself despite LeBron and AD both saying that was exactly what they needed from him. Clearly, things are a little messy for the Lakers right now, and a lot of decisions need to be made during the offseason.
