LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers had one of the most disappointing seasons in recent memory. The team was put together in the offseason with the hopes of winning an NBA championship, especially with the move to bring former MVP, Russell Westbrook, to LA. But the team disappointed significantly, not even making the NBA playoffs this season, and putting on very poor performances across the board.

LeBron James was asked about Russell Westbrook and what he and Anthony Davis thought was going to happen with the trio playing together. James wasn’t able to give an answer, noting that he thought he and Westbrook would work very well together, with Russ pushing the pace of the game, him handling the wing, and Anthony Davis playing as the team’s lob threat.

LeBron says he thought and Westbrook could compliment each other with Russ pushing tempo and LeBron running the wing and AD as a lob threat.

LeBron is clearly frustrated with how the season went, and how the pairing with Westbrook worked out. LeBron did seem to show a desire to want to play with Westbrook next season but admitted that he doesn’t have the power to make that happen. Some might disagree with LeBron’s statement, as his power over a franchise is well known, and if he wants a player to stay, it is likely that the team will work to make that happen.

Westbrook himself showed frustration, seemingly taking shots at LeBron and AD during his exit press conference, noting that while LeBron and Davis kept saying they needed Russ to be Russ, that wasn’t the case when they played together. The future of the Lakers is complex, and there is no way to discern what exactly will happen. Fans should brace themselves for a turbulent offseason in LA.
