Passions are always high during the playoffs, this is when the games matter more than ever. Players are playing a more physical game with high stakes, and the atmosphere inside arenas is on a different level.
Fans become susceptible to becoming overly passionate as well, which can manifest in some unhealthy ways. An excellent example is what happened between Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings fans during Game 4 of that series.
With the game happening at Chase Center, home of the Golden State Warriors, there was also a watch party at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento. The game was hard-fought, and the fans in Sacramento felt it too, with a massive group getting into an all-out brawl in the stands.
This behavior obviously cannot be encouraged and those involved will likely be hit with bans. Fans were throwing hard punches and pushing one another down the stairs, some serious injuries could have occurred. Overall, it was a wild scene and one that has become all too common during this postseason.
There Have Been Multiple Fights In Different Series’ Already During The Playoffs
Fans of the Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings aren’t getting along, this wasn’t even the first fight that occurred during this series. After Game 3 a few days ago, there was a brawl that broke out between some fans outside the Chase Center. The series is the most exciting in the first round so far, but the fans need to stop taking the intensity they’ve seen off the court with them.
There was a fight between fans in another series as well, with Lakers and Grizzlies fans going at each other in Game 2 of that series. That was more of a personal fight between two fans, but the vicious beatdown went viral in the aftermath. The NBA needs to do something about these situations, it’s not a good look for the league to have so many fights in the stands in quick succession.
The Warriors vs. Kings series is now tied up at 2-2, and will only get more intense in the coming games. It has been by far the most entertaining matchup in the first round of the playoffs, and the players themselves have been going beyond what is acceptable physical play at times. The hope is that the remaining battles in this series will be focused on basketball and that fans in the stands won’t get involved.
