The Los Angeles Lakers recently defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves in their play-in tournament game, 108-102. Though the Lakers did not play their best basketball here, what matters is that the team got the win.

At the end of the fourth quarter, Anthony Davis fouled Mike Conley on a 3PT shot, which led to three free throws and then overtime. Dennis Schroder notably hit a big-time shot before that happened to put the Lakers up by 3. After the game, Anthony Davis ended up apologizing to Schroder for messing up his game-winner.

“I messed his game-winner up, and I apologize. I definitely apologize.”

There’s no doubt that Anthony Davis’ mistake at the end of regulation could have been costly for the Los Angeles Lakers. However, they ended up winning, and the focus should be on their upcoming playoff series against the Memphis Grizzlies.

In the game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Anthony Davis put up 24 points and 15 rebounds, while also getting 2 steals and 3 blocks. Even though he had a huge mistake, this was overall a solid performance on both ends from the superstar.

Dillon Brooks Has Already Stated That He Is Okay With Facing LeBron James And The Lakers In A Series

After their win against the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Los Angeles Lakers will face the Memphis Grizzlies. Dillon Brooks has already stated that he wouldn’t mind facing the Lakers in the first round, adding that it’d be a good test for the team.

“I wouldn’t mind playing LeBron in a 7-game series,” said Brooks. “The legacy is there. First time back in the playoffs, knock him out right away in the first round. It’ll test us good. They got good pieces, good players, and that’ll be a good 1st round matchup for us.”

There’s no question that Dillon Brooks has the right mentality here, and one needs to be confident in facing the best teams to get to the mountaintop that is the NBA championship. Dillon Brooks is clearly not backing down from the matchup, and hopefully, the rest of the team does the same.

The Los Angeles Lakers definitely have an uphill battle in terms of beating the Memphis Grizzlies. Though they are young, they already have some playoff experience and have been consistently good all year. With Anthony Davis and LeBron James on the roster though, they have a chance against any matchup, and we’ll see what happens in the future.
