The Minnesota Timberwolves’ future seems to be in safe hands. Anthony Edwards is unarguably one of the primary reasons for that. The former first overall pick has elevated his game to the next level in just his sophomore season.

Although he still has a long way to go, he proved his worth in the fixture against the Miami Heat. Edwards finished the game with 33 points, 14 rebounds, and 6 assists. But the thing that most fans most vividly remember is Edwards’ insane dunk attempt over Gabe Vincent. In all honesty, Edwards succeeded as well.

Unfortunately, the ref called it a foul on Edwards’ part and the dunk was disallowed. NBA fans reacted to it on Twitter as it caused an uproar. Following that, many have been waiting for the Timberwolves forward’s comments as well.

“If I’m refereeing that game and you dunk on someone like that, I’m not calling a charge. And you at home? I’m not calling a charge.”

It was quite obvious from his comments that he was not happy with the decision. After all, who would be happy to see such an amazing impact getting denied by a referee? Well, at the end of the day, the Timberwolves registered a victory, and that’s what matters the most.

They are currently in red hot form with a 5-game win streak. Moving forward, they will hope to continue this form and possibly make a run for a playoff berth when it’s all said and done.

If they want to have a shot at doing it, they will Edwards to continue playing at the level that he is. Speaking of his stats for the season, the young star in the making is averaging 22.8 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 3.4 assists. The only big flaw in his game seems to be his shooting percentage.

The Timberwolves forward is shooting 43.4% from the field along with 36.0% from beyond the arc. He needs to improve this aspect of his game and he will become an even better player.

Can the Timberwolves finally end their playoff drought behind Edwards? We will have to wait until the end of the season to find out.
