  • Anthony Edwards was asked if he’d rather trade Karl-Anthony Towns or Rudy Gobert
  • At first, the star refused to answer the question
  • Edwards then stated he’d keep both his teammates

The Minnesota Timberwolves did not get far in the playoffs last season despite their win-now trade for Rudy Gobert in the 2022 offseason. Many have suggested that their plan to have a two-big lineup with Gobert and Karl-Anthony Towns won’t work, and those people subsequently believe one of the two should be traded.

During the 2023 FIBA World Cup tournament, Anthony Edwards was asked by a reporter about whether he’d trade Karl-Anthony Towns or Rudy Gobert. Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports revealed Edwards’ classy response, with the shooting guard refusing to trade either player.

“Edwards was, quite inappropriately, asked by a European reporter which of his teammates would he rather trade: Towns or Rudy Gobert. At first, Edwards merely looked off the ridiculous query. Then, when he was done being questioned about something entirely reasonable, Edwards actually paused, turning back to the disrespectful media member and strongly declared: ‘Neither one, man. I like all my teammates. I love them. They my brothers. I wouldn’t trade neither one of them.'”

There is no doubt that the Minnesota Timberwolves have the talent to succeed in the Western Conference. They should give their current core another opportunity to succeed, and we’ll see if the Timberwolves can make some noise this season.

Many Believe Anthony Edwards Will Leave The Minnesota Timberwolves

The Minnesota Timberwolves are a small market franchise, and we have seen a lot of stars leave smaller markets for teams located in large cities. It is quite possible that this will happen with Anthony Edwards in the future. In fact, Patrick Beverley previously explained why Edwards will leave the Minnesota Timberwolves.

“He will get out of Minnesota. That’s just what happens. That’s no disrespect to Minny. With that personality, he can change the world with basketball. He is the type of player that you need to see.”

It remains to be seen if Edwards does end up leaving the Minnesota Timberwolves in the future. He could definitely get more exposure and increase his stardom on a team like the Los Angeles Lakers, but of course, if he becomes a superstar then it won’t really matter where he plays.

Anthony Edwards Has Been Compared To Michael Jordan

Anthony Edwards’ stellar FIBA play has caused him to be hyped by many fans and analysts alike. Even some former players are extremely high on Edwards. In fact, former Lakers guard Nick Young suggested Anthony Edwards is the new Michael Jordan.

“The league is about to be Anthony Edwards. This is Anthony Edwards league now, the new MJ. That boy looks just like MJ out there,” said Young. “They should have gave it to Anthony Edwards. They would have never lost to Lithuania.”

Though comparing any player to Michael Jordan is a little extreme, there’s no doubt that Anthony Edwards is a gifted player. Hopefully, he becomes a superstar in the future and leads the Timberwolves to an NBA championship.
