Anthony Edwards is a superstar in the making on the court. He has every tool necessary to become a true great in the NBA. However, it’s easy to forget at times that he is still a very young man and has a lot to learn off the court. The Timberwolves man found himself in the middle of a controversy in the offseason after posting a homophobic story on his Instagram.

The backlash to Edwards’ post was instant, with many fans calling him out for his actions and his words. Edwards reacted swiftly as well, issuing an apology and talking about how he was raised better. This didn’t stop the league from slapping him with a fine though, his mistake led to a $40K fine. But the more important aspect was to see if Ant would learn from it, and it would seem that he has.

Anthony Edwards Reiterated His Apology For His Homophobic Comments And Is Committed To Making Things Right

In situations like this one, a one-time apology often doesn’t mean much. A consistent effort to make things right is what people value. And Anthony Edwards seems determined to do just that, speaking on the situation during media day and apologizing once again for the hurt his actions caused.

“Man, I respect everybody. I know what I posted was immature and I’m sorry for that, if I hurt anyone. I’m working with the team and I’m sorry to all the Minnesota fans. I’m working to be better.

“I’m willing to do whatever man, whatever it takes to make it right. To show everybody that I come with respect and that’s not who I am and I’m willing to take it as far as I need to.”

Edwards seems sincere in his apology and his quest to make things right, which is all anyone can ask for. Ant is only 21, and there is every reason to believe that he will learn from his mistakes and grow from the experience. In doing so, he will also become an example for the people that look up to him.

With the new season looming, there will be a lot of other things that will demand Edwards’ attention. The Timberwolves are hoping to contend for the championship and that will bring a different sort of pressure and expectation. So the fact that he took the time to properly address this situation speaks volumes about Edwards’ character.
