Austin Rivers came out in full support of the Los Angeles Lakers after the team’s fanbase slammed the franchise for their 4-0 sweep against the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference Finals.
Soon after the Lakers’ 113-111 Game 4 loss, the team’s social media handle posted a ‘Thank you’ post for the fans which saw some harsh and scathing criticism from some of the fans, and Rivers didn’t take too kindly to it.
“Lakers fans…to the ones saying negative things. Or saying they need to trade Bron, Ad, etc. Relax, take a deep breath,” he replied to the post. “Ur team just made it to the conference finals!! U were literally in a play-in-game weeks ago. So to make that run was impressive!! You had young players step up and get experience and improve. You have trade assets and a good supporting cast guys.”
“Bron showed he’s still one of the best players in the world. AD is healthy and has a summer to get the body more right and stable. U go into summer make a couple of moves and improve cast in certain areas and come back with some encouraging positive energy, fresh off a conference finals appearance. I say the next 2-4 years could be exciting for the Lakers. Then maybe after that, u talk rebuild, etc. Good season overall for y’all.”

As far as Game 4 goes, it was a LeBron James show after he poured in 40 points, 10 rebounds, and 9 assists. But it wasn’t enough as the team fell short bowing out of the Conference Finals.
The Lakers’ Season Has Been An Absolute Fairytale
Not many expected the Lakers to even make the postseason. To start with, they were 0-5 at the beginning of the season and then went 2-10. To claw back from that massive deficit that took them all of the regular season shows volumes about their resilience.
It helped that they made the right moves ahead of the trade deadline with the addition of Rui Hachimura, and the likes of D’Angelo Russell, Malik Beasley, and Jarred Vanderbilt. The Russell Westbrook saga ended earlier, and to his good fortune, the LA Clippers who signed him did well to get to the postseason as well.
The upcoming season will surely see some interesting changes, especially with James fueling retirement rumors. Will he be a Laker next season? Will the Lakers’ latest acquisitions have a shot at running it back? Is Kyrie Irving coming to LA? Only time will tell.
