Boston Celtics legend Bill Russell has signed his name on the list of people who have taken shots at POTUS Donald Trump recently. The Hall of Famer reacted to Trump’s comments on athletes taking a knee during the national anthem.
Trump sent a message supporting NFL quarterback Drew Brees after the latter said he would “never agree with anybody disrespecting the flag of the United States of America or our country.” Brees received a lot of criticism and apologized twice. As to that, Trump said:
“I am a big fan of Drew Brees. I think he’s truly one of the greatest quarterbacks, but he should not have taken back his original stance on honoring our magnificent American Flag. OLD GLORY is to be revered, cherished, and flown high… We should be standing up straight and tall, ideally with a salute, or a hand on heart. There are other things you can protest, but not our Great American Flag – NO KNEELING!”

Russell sent another message to Mr. Trump, calling him ‘divisive’ and a ‘coward’ for his comments.
“#Trump you projected your narrative that #TakingAKnee is disrespectful & #UnAmerican it was never about that! You are divisive & a coward. It takes true courage 2 stand 4 what is right & risk your life in the midst of a #pandemic #Proud2kneel #BlackLivesMatter @MSNBC @BostonGlobe,” wrote Russell on Twitter.

Russell has joined the likes of Steve Kerr, who’s been very active calling out Trump. Stephen Curry was spotted chanting anti-Trump messages during protests against racism. The NBA isn’t full of people who actually support Trump and his recent messages haven’t precisely helped his cause. Now Bill Russell added his name to that list, which gets larger every day.
