Superstar Damian Lillard has requested a trade from the Portland Trail Blazers, and there is no doubt that a lot of Trail Blazers fans are unhappy about this. Lillard has been the face of the franchise for many years, and many people consider him the greatest player in their history.

However, it seems as though there are reasons to be happy about this trade if one is a Trail Blazers fan. Recently, Brian Scaalabrine explained why Trail Blazers fans should welcome this trade request.

“There are timelines in the NBA… give me a player and five first-round picks. What do they want, Dame Lillard to sit there and be the 10th seed… there are times when the superstar player can move on and the team can get a bunch of assets for him, it’s much better for the team.”

There’s no doubt that trading Damian Lillard could end up getting the Portland Trail Blazers a lot of assets. They already have a nice young core going with players such as Scoot Henderson and Shaedon Sharpe, and moving Lillard could really help them along with their rebuild. The complicating factor in a Damian Lillard trade is that he only wants to play for the Miami Heat, and that could scare off potential suitors.

This season, Damian Lillard averaged 32.2 PPG, 4.8 RPG, and 7.3 APG for the Portland Trail Blazers. We will see where he lands in the future, and perhaps we’ll see him in Miami at some point in the future.

The Heat Are Willing To Give Up Anyone Except Jimmy Butler And Bam Adebayo For Damian Lillard

The Miami Heat are clearly desperate to get Damian Lillard, and they are willing to give up a lot to get him. In fact, it was revealed that they are willing to give up anyone on their roster except their stars to land Lillard.

“Take anyone you want besides Bam Adebayo and Jimmy Butler… The Heat are all-in on this. This is their moment.”

It will be interesting to see whether Damian Lillard will end up on the Miami Heat before next season. Generally, superstars get to dictate where they want to go, and his desire to only play for the Heat will likely scare other teams off.
