  • Bronny James is predicted to suit up for the Lakers in his rookie NBA season
  • The Lakers are not guaranteed a first-round pick in the 2024 NBA Draft
  • The 18-year-old continues to recover from his scary cardiac arrest earlier this July

Ahead of Bronny James looking to finish his maiden stint for the USC, a bold prediction of him playing alongside his father for the Los Angeles Lakers has generated quite the buzz.

According to an NBA scout speaking to HoopsHype, the Lakers will not pass up on Bronny if they have a chance to land the rising phenom.

“If the Lakers get a pick, they won’t pass on him. He’s a decent player. He’s better than some guys who may get picked ahead of him. He’s solid, not spectacular. He knows how to play. He can handle the ball well enough. If you leave him alone, he’ll drill a three. He reminds me of Austin Rivers as a player, and he’s stayed in the league for over a decade.”

This comes off as quite the hot take. It’s worth noting that the Lakers are not guaranteed a first-round pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, and that makes quite the challenge in itself to land the 18-year-old.

Should Bronny indeed manage to get into the Purple and Gold fold, nothing would make LeBron James more happy. The four-time NBA champion has already made it clear that he wants to play with his son in the NBA, and this would be the perfect opportunity for the father-son duo to share the floor.

What Are The Potential Landing Spots For Bronny James In The NBA?

Ranked No. 22 overall on the 247Sports’ list of 2023 men’s basketball recruits, Bronny James is regarded as a 5-star prospect. On paper, there are already a couple of teams that look like perfect fits for Bronny.

One of them, according to Bleacher Report, is the San Antonio Spurs. It’s tantalizing to see Bronny and Victor Wembanyama share the court together. The Miami Heat are the second team listed as one of the top landing spots for the rising star.

With the likes of Jimmy Butler in the squad and, presumably, Damian Lillard, the learning for Bronny in his rookie year will be massive. Not to forget, he will play under a proven leader in Erik Spoelstra. There’s no doubt that any of the above teams that Bronny plays for (if he gets to that is) will see him evolve as a better player than he is now.

Bronny James Continues His Recovery After Scary Cardiac Arrest

Earlier this year, Bronny James suffered a cardiac arrest and collapsed on the court during practice, the reason of which was revealed to be a congenital heart defect later.

The good news is that doctors are optimistic that Bronny can make a full recovery, and given the recent developments and reportage, it does appear that Bronny is inching towards recovery.

Bronny committed to USC earlier this summer, and as his freshman season is approaching fast, expect Bronny to return to his regular schedule, which likely includes tedious exercise and training for the upcoming season.

It is indeed good news to see Bronny back on his feet. His career is filled with potential, and it would be unfortunate to see it derail. But now that he’s been given a clean bill of health, it’s interesting to see how his season pans out and how the 2024 NBA Draft plays out for him.
