  • Ja Morant’s father Tee stated his son got into trouble because of his own decisions
  • Morant has been suspended for 25 games by the NBA
  • Former NBA player Ron Harper had a sarcastic reaction to Tee’s comments

Chicago Bulls legend Ron Harper thinks Tee Morant might have waited a bit too long to act like a father to Ja Morant. After the elder Morant spoke about his son’s mistakes with the Grizzlies, Harper sarcastically called him out.

“Now he wants to be his dad….”

I’d say better late than never. Harper is far from being the only one, though, who thinks Tee did not act as a father should have toward Ja all this time.

Stephen A. Smith had called out Tee by stating, “You’re his daddy. You’re not his boy.”  Many felt that Tee had been acting like a friend to Ja and not as a father who would ensure his son stayed on the right path.

Tee did blame himself for Ja’s controversies, and hopefully, he’s been guiding his son behind the scenes.

It’d be a real shame if someone as talented as Morant ends up losing everything because of off-the-court issues. The two-time All-Star averaged 26.2 points, 5.9 rebounds, 8.1 assists, 1.1 steals, and 0.3 blocks in the 2022-23 season and is one of the best players in the league.

Ron Harper Blasted Ja Morant After The Second Gun Incident

Morant first flashed a gun on Instagram Live in March earlier this year. He apologized for it, and the NBA only suspended him for eight games.

Some felt that it was too lenient on the NBA’s part and questioned the sincerity of the apology. Those individuals were proven right after the 24-year-old flashed a gun again on Instagram Live in May.

Another apology followed, but the 59-year-old Harper was having none of it. The former Lakers champion didn’t believe a word of the apology and stated that Morant didn’t mean it at all.

Morant completely lost the benefit of the doubt following the second incident. The only way he can regain some trust is if he manages to stay out of trouble for a very long time.
