Being in the NBA comes with its own benefits for players. One such thing is managing to build connections outside of the world of sports. Former NBA player Carlos Boozer certainly succeeded in doing that.

When Carlos Boozer landed a six-year $70 million contract with the Utah Jazz, he decided to purchase a house in LA. Considering the fact that he still lived in Utah during basketball season, Boozer once decided to rent his LA home to popular singer, Prince, who apparently paid a whopping $95,000 a month in rent.

“So I went to the Utah Jazz and I wanted to live in LA,” Boozer started. “So I bought a nice crib, it was in Bel-Air. I spent $8 million on it. It was huge. It was like 18,000 square feet. It was immaculate. It had like 10 bedrooms, and huge pool, 3 living rooms. It was incredible. So I go back to Utah and I’m getting a phone call from my realtor and she’s like, ‘Hey someone wants to really rent your house.’ I was like, ‘I’ve barely lived in the house. I’ve been here one month. I don’t wanna rent my house out.’ She goes, ‘Well, he’s willing to pay $95,000/month.'”

That someone? It was renowned musician Prince who had his eyes set on Boozer’s beautiful home.

“He comes out of a car and it’s Prince. I’m like,’Whoa,’ Boozer added. “I’m trying to hold my composure a little bit. Anyway, he rents the house out. I hurt my hamstring that year. So, I come to LA, I hit Prince up, I’m like, ‘Hey, I’m coming to town, I’m gonna go stop by the house if you need anything, let me know.’ So I go down the street or I thought my house was that, I pull up to the gate and I had these 2 lions on the gate and they weren’t there anymore. … I put the code in and it works, gates open up and I’m like, ‘What the f**k is going on?'”

Prince had apparently changed the entire look of Carlos Boozer’s home. In order to add a personal touch to it, the musician made everything purple. Boozer certainly didn’t like that.

“I get in there and none of my stuff is in there anymore,” Boozer said frustratedly. “It’s black carpet, it’s purple couches. There’s pictures of him everywhere. He had like one of the guest rooms into a hair salon. He did make my weight room into a disco ball night club. I was pissed. I was like, ‘What happened to my house?’ We didn’t agree to this.”

The former NBA player was certainly pissed off at Prince and even claimed that he wanted to sue Prince for changing the entire look of his home. Prince calmed Boozer down by wiring him $500K to ease his mind. Now, that’s one way to make sure that Boozer didn’t had any issue with the changes made in the house.

Carlos Boozer Was A Solid Player For The Utah Jazz

Carlos Boozer’s prime years in the league came when he was part of the Utah Jazz. Boozer even made two back-to-back NBA all-star appearances during his stint with the Jazz.

He stayed with the team for six seasons and during that time, Boozer averaged a solid 19.3 PPG, 10.5 RPG, 2.9 APG, 1.0 SPG, and 0.4 BPG. Boozer had the time of his life during his stint with the Utah Jazz. He was even part of The 2008 Redeem Team under the leadership of Kobe Bryant and LeBron James.

All things considered, Boozer was a phenomenal player for the Utah Jazz. Sure, he didn’t have a Hall of Fame worthy resume, but at the prime of his career, there weren’t many players better than him in his position in the NBA.
