NBA superstar Carmelo Anthony has jumped from team to team over the years, but his true home has never changed.

With a deep history in New York, Melo has a lot of ties to the city and frequently returns there for all types of different occasions.

This week, he returned to the Big Apple to surprise music artist Bad Bunny with an award at Yankee Stadium. The moment, which went viral online, captures Melo’s appearance on stage.

(via New York Daily News):

The reggaeton rapper gave a special remote MTV Video Music Awards performance of “Tití Me Preguntó” at the stadium in the Bronx on Sunday, moments after winning artist of the year.

Former Knicks star Carmelo Anthony presented the trophy to Bad Bunny at the stadium.

Fans were electrified by his performance and celebrated on social media after Bad Bunny shared kisses with a male and a female backup dancer onstage.

Sunday marked the second night in a row that the Puerto Rican-born Bad Bunny, 28, held a concert at Yankee Stadium as part of his “World’s Hottest Tour.”

The main VMAs ceremony took place about 20 miles away at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., where Nicki Minaj, Blackpink, Anitta, Eminem and Snoop Dogg also performed.

Things are always happening in New York City, whether it involves music, politics, sports, or culture. At the largest city by population in America, it’s really no wonder why everything always seems to happen there.

For Carmelo Anthony, it is quite clear that even though he no longer plays for the Knicks, he is still involved with the city and the happenings within it.

This summer, after a brief stint with the Lakers, Melo is a free agent again, and a return to New York is apparently still in play.

Five years after his departure from the Knicks, Carmelo Anthony could be on the verge of a major homecoming. According to the New York Post’s Marc Berman, the Knicks are considering a pursuit of the All-Star scorer this summer.

He did also note that signing Anthony is not the team’s first priority.

“According to a source, Knicks brass has had internal conversations about Anthony,” Berman said. “Though more pressing concerns about how to rebuild a franchise that’s missed the playoffs eight of the past nine years have taken precedence.”

It remains to be seen how things will play out with Anthony, but by all accounts, the guy still calls New York City his home.

The fact that he’s giving out awards to famous rappers in Yankee Stadium only further confirms that fact.
