  • Charles Barkley no longer wants to discuss his broken bond with Michael Jordan
  • Barkley thinks people act like their feud is similar to Prince William and Prince Harry
  • Barkley says he has been in the same room with Jordan, but they haven’t talked to each other

Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley were two of the best players in the league during the 1980s and 1990s. Although the two stars started as rivals, they later became close friends.

However, Barkley and Jordan’s friendship has been over for more than a decade because the former criticized the latter’s ownership style with the Charlotte Hornets.  Barkley has spoken about the incident several times and the former NBA star is finally fed up with the discussions.

“Yes! A hundred percent,” Barkley said on SI Media with Jimmy Traina. “A hundred percent! Because you know what, Jimmy, they act like we Prince William and Prince Harry. Like I said, Michael got mad about something. I said we haven’t spoken and now two times a year I have to defend.

“We’re not taking shots and by backdoor channels all the time. Michael’s doing great, and I’m doing great.”

He added: “I lost my friend because I criticized him. Guys can always say about me, ‘Charles you might not like him, but he’s gonna be fair,’ because of the situation with Michael. I always said, ‘Wait a minute, I criticize other general managers. Just because the guy is my best friend, if I have a double standard, that’s not fair.”

Despite not having a great bond with Michael Jordan anymore, Charles Barkley is getting annoyed with having to defend his current situation with the Bulls legend twice a year.

All things considered, Barkley has indeed been asked the same question multiple times over the last year or so and he’s bound to be a little agitated.

Charles Barkley On The Last Thing Michael Jordan Told Him Before Ending Their Friendship

Michael Jordan was a phenomenal NBA player, he won six NBA Championships, six NBA Finals MVPs, five regular season MVPs, and a plethora of other accolades during his career.

But the same cannot be said for his stint as the owner of the Charlotte Hornets. Sure, Jordan recently sold his majority stake in the team for $3 billion, but Barkley once criticized his then-friend about his lack of success with the team, making him mad.

In a previous interview, Barkley revealed what Jordan told him before ultimately ending their friendship.

“He went ballistic,” Chuck said. “And he called me, that’s the last thing I heard, ‘M*****f****r f**k you, you’re supposed to be my boy. And I said man, I gotta do my job and we haven’t spoken since that night. And that was probably close to 10 years ago.”

Wow, Barkley certainly touched a nerve. More than 10 years have passed since that incident, and the two former players are still not on talking terms.

In fact, Barkley revealed that he and Jordan have been in the same room about five or six times in the last decade or so, but haven’t spoken to each other even once.

Charles Barkley Refuses To Apologize To Michael Jordan

The broken friendship between Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley can be amended if either of the NBA legends takes the first step and apologizes.

While Jordan has remained rather quiet on the matter, Barkley has made it abundantly clear he will not be the first to apologize. Barkley also pointed out Jordan has his number if he wants to apologize.

“I got an ego too,” the 60-year-old said.  “You can be great at something, but that doesn’t give you the right to be a jerk… He got my number.”

Many months have passed since Barkley’s proposal, and no news has been reported about Jordan apologizing to his former best friend.

Hopefully, the two legends can figure things out between them. After all, fans would love to see them be friends again and enjoy playing golf with each other, just like the good old days.
