The All-Star Game and all the celebrations surrounding it are meant to be a time for the best of the league to come together for a showcase. While the game itself and the events can be disappointing at times, the energy of All-Star Weekend is unmatched.

Legends from NBA history, current superstars, and many players, coaches, and executives turn up at All-Star Weekend, giving it a fantastic feel every year. And the one thing about them is that they’re all trying to have a good time.

The 2023 All-Star Weekend took place in Salt Lake City, Utah, at Vivint Arena, the home of the Utah Jazz. Now, while the Jazz has been a pretty good team historically, there have been players that hated Utah. Vernon Maxwell is a prime example; he still has beef with the entire fanbase of the Jazz and the state in general.

Charles Barkley became the latest NBA personality to get on board with roasting Salt Lake City. Utah has some restrictive laws on alcohol and other substances, and that doesn’t sit well with Barkley. Commentating at the All-Star Game, Barkley hilarious roasted the city they were in, joking about how all the people that live there will go to heaven because it’s impossible to have fun.

“These people going to heaven. Ain’t nothing to do in this boring a** city. It’s a great city, but ain’t nothing to do here. Can’t smoke, can’t drink. These people going to heaven.”

NBA Fans Reacted To Charles Barkley’s Funny Rant About Utah

Hating on fans of the Utah Jazz is something many other fanbases enjoy, so Charles Barkley’s words proved to be a bit of a trigger on that front. Many got in the replies to troll Salt Lake City and Utah, while some were around to defend it.

“Yes, there are fantastic restaurants – and microbrews – in Utah, but Charles Barkley is right. Utah is still far too conservative.”

“He’s not wrong at all.”

“Where is the lie?”

“Everybody know Utah and SLC both suck.”

“This state only good for nature nuts, that’s all.”

“This might have been the funniest comment made all All Star Weekend.”

“I see someone roast Utah, I laugh. Simple.”

“Salt Lake City does have some top breweries though.”

“Chuck not been around enough, sorry to say.”

“I knew there was going to be some backlash for having the All-Star game here.”

“Barkley calls it like he sees it, this is just pure truth.”

There is something beautiful about every place in the world, but it’s safe to say that Utah might not be a massive hub for partying. In any case, the All-Star Weekend was successfully held in Salt Lake City, including a particularly exciting Slam Dunk Contest. Although, first San Antonio, now Salt Lake City, where will Charles Barkley stop his roasts?
