Chris Paul has already begun putting in the work for the upcoming season, and while at it, he sounded a warning gong to his rivals across the league.

Taking to Instagram, the veteran point guard posted a series of images and a video of him already training on the court. A few of the images feature him shirtless, showing the rippling musculature from the hard yards he’s been putting in at the gym. He captioned the post:

“YOU might be smarter, faster, or stronger…but YOU won’t outwork me!!”

The 2022-23 season wasn’t exactly the greatest for Paul, despite the Phoenix Suns making the playoffs, before they were outclassed by Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets in the second round.

In the 59 games he played this season, Paul averaged 13.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 8.9 assists. Scoring-wise, his numbers dipped this time, as did his assists. He played only two games against the Nuggets in the playoffs after suffering a groin injury.

Despite his sharp game acumen, Paul’s injury history has played a major part in his decline. He has hit the 70-game mark just twice in his last five seasons. Now, the recent images surely suggest that the 38-year-old is making another run at winning his maiden NBA championship, and hopefully with the Phoenix Suns.

Is Chris Paul Houston Bound?

After their second-round playoff ouster, all eyes were on Chris Paul and his future in Phoenix. The Athletic’s Kelly Iko opined that he might be one of the players on the Rockets’ radar if their plan to acquire James Harden falls through.

This comes on the back of rumors mills churning that Paul could be exiting the Suns this summer. Earlier, it was also reported that the Suns were looking at deals that would put the point guard on the trade market.

Houston does make sense for Paul as he is one of those players with a strong locker-room influence — especially for a young unit like the Rockets. On his part, he had a rather cryptic response regarding his time with the Suns.

“My contract is not up,” Paul said. “But unfortunately I’m not the GM or anything like that. So we’ll see.”

The Suns were looked at as legitimate title contenders with the addition of Durant, but they fell short of expectations in the end. But with Paul already training, it looks like he’s got his objective sorted for the upcoming edition.
