Damian Lillard Calls Out Michael Porter Jr. For Criticizing Head Coach

2 Min Read

Damian Lillard wasn’t feeling Michael Porter’s comments about his team after the Nuggets’ 96-85 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers last night. The Clippers took a 3-1 lead in the series and things look more complicated than when they had to overcome a 3-1 deficit against the Utah Jazz the prior round.

The Los Angeles Clippers have won two consecutive games against the Denver Nuggets and the alarms are on for Mike Malone and his pupils. Despite the great game that the Clippers played in the last two games, the Nuggets players have been self-critical about their performances and now things have gotten a different dimension.

Nuggets rookie Michael Porter Jr. was very open on his thoughts in the post-game interview, criticizing his coaches as well as taking jabs at his teammates.

“That is up to the playcalling, the coaches and whose hands they want to put the ball in. We kept going to [Nikola Jokic] and [Jamal Murray] and they are two amazing players, but I just think to beat them we need to get more players involved. We have to move the ball a little bit better. We can’t be predictable against that team.”

Lillard wasn’t having any of that and showed his disagreement with MPJ on Twitter.

Even after fans tried to change his mind, Dame wasn’t willing to do that and to be fair, who would?

If you have something to say about the performance or the strategy of the team, go talk with your coaches in private instead of criticizing them in front of the press. This is a rookie mistake by MPJ.

The Nuggets are now in the same position they were the previous round, 3-1 down against the Clippers, who are highly unlikely to have the same fate the Utah Jazz had.
