Zion has been on the trade news ever since his murky scandal with porn star Moriah Mills.

Earlier, The Ringer’s Bill Simmons believed that the 22-year-old could be traded before the 2023 NBA Draft after news of the Pelicans possibly putting him on the trade block to select Scoot Henderson in the draft.

The Blazers Prefer Zion Williamson Over Brandon Ingram

In the days leading up to Thursday’s 2023 NBA Draft, the Blazers are expecting calls for the no. 3 pick and the New Orleans Pelicans are one of the teams that could get involved.

It’s uncertain right now what exactly they would be willing to give up, but per The Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor suggests the Blazers would rather have Zion in any trade talks with the Pelicans.

“Most reports have said the Hornets favor the forward Miller over Henderson, so if that’s true it would make sense they’d want a more advanced version of Miller in Ingram, who will still only be 25 years old next season. As for Portland, my sense from league sources is that Portland’s preference is Williamson, who’d be a weapon in the pick-and-roll and in handoffs alongside Damian Lillard (should he stick around) and Shaedon Sharpe.”

No doubt that this will be a risky move for Portland, but given their win-now situation, they will hope that Zion can be the team’s much-needed second superstar and thrive under Lillard’s leadership.

With a few smart moves, the Blazers can surround Zion and Lillard with some talent to give them a fighting chance to make the playoffs and beyond.
