D’Angelo Russell and the Los Angeles Lakers had a big night on Saturday, beating the Memphis Grizzlies to take a 2-1 lead in their first-round series.

Ja Morant’s heroics were incredible, but it wasn’t enough to beat Russell and co. Following the game, D’Lo tried to get another win, but the league’s personnel prevented him from getting free publicity for his drink.

Staffer: “That drink put it down.”

Russell: “Why?”

Staffer: “Because it’s not one of our partners.”

DLo: “What partners? It’s my partner. You gon’ have to fine me. Coco5.”

D'Angelo Russell was just trying to promote his drink:

"That drink put it down."

DLo: "Why?"

"Because it's not one of our partners."

DLo: "It's my partner. You gon' have to fine me. Coco5."

This ended up with this woman taking the drink away and D’Lo not getting his free publicity. However, the seconds the drink was on the table were hilarious and perhaps that will help the brand.

Just like Kawhi Leonard once opted to remove a bottle of Gatorade since he was not sponsored by them, Russell tried to do the opposite, but the NBA is very careful about it.

D’Angelo Russell Had A Big Game After His Rant Against Lakers

Russell had a big comeback against the Memphis Grizzlies in Game 3 of their first-round series. The point guard wasn’t happy with the way the Lakers used him in Game 2 and let people know about his feelings.

“I’m a basketball player, you can’t keep saying, point guard… Basketball player with this team, a basketball player with this team, not really a point guard role.”

D’Lo responded with 17 points, 4 rebounds and 7 assists for the Lakers, securing the 111-101 win over the Grizzlies. Russell can be a key piece of this team, but he needs to be himself and not become what Russell Westbrook became on the Lakers.

The Lakers are playing at a great level right now, showing that they can beat the Grizzlies and pull off the upset. With another win in Game 4, the path will be clear for them to eliminate the No. 2 seed in the West.
