Donovan Mitchell Gets Trolled By Fans After Posting ‘Black Lives Matter’ On Twitter

3 Min Read

Donovan Mitchell went off against the Denver Nuggets, dropping 57 points on Monday afternoon. That wasn’t enough to take his team to the victory, but Mitchell once again enchanted everybody with his performance. However, he made an odd mistake that played a key role in the Nuggets forcing OT. Mitchell committed an 8-second violation with less than 2 minutes on the clock and returned the ball to the Nuggets after Rudy Gobert’s big block on Nikola Jokic.

Mitchell was trolled on Twitter by a random fan when he posted a picture with a series of numbers that formed ‘Black Lives Matter’. Spida is one of the players who keep raising his voice against racial injustices and police brutality, but people are always ready to mess with you.

One person replied saying ‘8 seconds matter’, referring to Donovan’s mistake during the first game of the Jazz in the postseason. He wasn’t having any of that and gave this person a great response, remembering George Floyd’s death and the time he had a knee on his throat before losing his life.

Mitchell was aware that he made a big mistake and he took the blame without any excuses.

“It’s tough to lose the first game … but there’s a lot of things we could control,” Mitchell said, per Tim Bontemps of ESPN. “I put a little bit on myself for the eight-second violation, and then they come down and hit a three, and that really changed the entire game, that sequence right there.”

“That’s my fault as a leader and as a point guard at that time,” he added. “That’s terrible on my part.”

He knows he could do better when that happened, but he’s clear that that specific play didn’t lose the game for the Jazz.

“I kind of put that … there’s really no one else to put it on,” Mitchell said. “I was just taking my time walking it up, and I’ve got to be more aware. I think that was a crucial part of the game. At the end of the day, I’m not going to put it all on that one play, but that was a crucial part.”

Now Mitchell will try to get revenge on Wednesday. He dropped 57 yesterday but without the victory, that’s just an empty record. It’s time to turn things around and this guy is ready for the challenge.
