Love him or hate him, Dillon Brooks is playing his role perfectly for the Grizzlies. As a high-energy defensive specialist who loves to trash talk, Brooks is to the Grizzlies what Draymond Green is to the Warriors and it has a pretty large impact both on and off the floor.

Speaking on Brooks and his role as a disruptor, Cavaliers star Donovan Mitchell explained why it’s so easy for opponents to get caught up in their feelings.

“This has been brewing for years, with me and with other guys in the league. You all see it; this isn’t new; tonight was just the end of it,” Michell said, via Bleacher Report. “But it’s tough when you can’t guard somebody or you can’t do something and you got to resort to that, and he’s done that to a lot of players.”

Brooks doesn’t have the same resume as Draymond, but he clearly took a page or two out of his book when it comes to getting in the minds of the opponents and becoming a distraction for the opposition.

We saw that in full force against the Warriors last night when he went face-to-face with Steph and trolled them after picking up the win. Even Klay Thompson couldn’t help but take a blow at Brooks in the end.

“I don’t care about Dillon Brooks,” Thompson told The Commercial Appeal. “When he retires, I don’t think anyone will ever talk about Dillon Brooks ever again. I promise you. It’s sweet right now, but wait 10 years.”

Can The Grizzlies Make A Playoff Run?

Memphis had been on a major slide since their starting big man, Steven Adams went down earlier in the season. At that point, they looked like the second-best team in the West. Then, when Morant started missing games, expectations reached an all-time low.

Yet, somehow, the Grizzlies persevered. Not only have they hit a respectable stride, but they are also expected to welcome back their biggest star soon — and right in time to make a meaningful playoff push.

Of course, one way or another, Dillon Brooks will be a part of this team going forward and it’s clear that he’s part of the reason they’ve become such a big threat in the West.
